Mary Grilli Jacobs has been part of our team almost since the beginning when I started Alcorn Immigration Law in 2015.
An expert in business and family immigration law, Mary has helped hundreds of individuals, families, startups, small businesses, and corporations with immigrant and nonimmigrant visas, requests for evidence, employment authorization documents (work permits), and green cards. In addition, she accompanies clients to marriage-based adjustment-of-status interviews and naturalization interviews.
Mary’s dad immigrated to the United States from Italy to work as an economist. Mary became passionate about helping clients find the right immigration solution to meet their needs. She has provided pro bono legal services to individuals facing deportation and asylum proceedings. These are some of the toughest cases to win under the Trump administration. Her sense of compassion is boundless.
Before joining the Alcorn Immigration Law team, Mary practiced corporate transactional law at a national law firm. There, she focused on structuring, funding, and growing companies. She was also a fellow at Georgetown University Law Center. She taught international students about the American legal system and how to improve their writing and speaking skills. In addition, Mary served as an editor of the Journal of International Economic Law while attending law school at the University of Pennsylvania.
Personal and practical reasons prompted Mary to shift to immigration law.
“I was excited that many of the clients and beneficiaries of my work would be from many different places,” she says. “I also wanted to practice a legal specialty that made me feel I was making a real difference in people’s quality of life.”
We’re thrilled to celebrate Mary’s role on our team.
